On the way to the floating lanterns Rapunzel and Flynn Rider run into a lot of people that have it out for Flynn. He is a thief after all, and has recently stolen the crown of the missing princess from the castle. While trying to escape from the guards Rapunzel and Flynn get trapped and don’t believe they are going to make it out alive; in this moment Flynn shares will Rapunzel that Flynn is not his real name and Rapunzel tells him that she has magical hair. As the words come out of her mouth, she then realizes she can save them both! Once they escape danger Raupnzel shares with Flynn that she has this magically hair that grows and grows. Her mother keeps her locked away in the tower because people will try and cut Rapunzels hair to try and use its power. If Rapunzels hair is ever cut it will turn from blonde to brown and lose its power.
Rapunzel and Flynn make their way to the castle in time to see the floating lanterns. Rapunzel is so amazed!! Her excitement is short lived when she sees her mother has been following her. She takes Rapunzel away, and brings her back to the tower were she plans on gathering everything they own and moving so that no one will be able to find them again. Flynn Rider meets them at the tower and tries to save Rapunzel. Flynn cuts Rapunzels’ hair which instantly turns brown, and with that Mother Gothel dies because as long as Rapunzels’ hair was growing she would still be alive. By escaping the tower, Rapunzel find that she is the lost princess. Mother Gothel had stolen her years ago from the King and Queen. She had kept Rapunzel in the tower to keep anyone from finding her. By getting the courage to leave the tower, Raupunzel discovers the truth about her life.
